Final Project Ideas

For this final, I would like to do a poster of sorts. I want to style them after posters from the 30s to the 60s. They would either be for classic literature styled like a movie, or political ones like the propaganda ones from WWII. It would incorporate text that is short, memorable, and gets the point across.

Project 4 In Progress 11/7/17

I have decided to do a short comic that will use drawings I have done that are colored digitally. The story is going to be a statement on current events that is made through the characters and their actions. I have a rough idea of what the story will be, though it is not finalized.

Project 4 Ideas

For this project, I want to create either a single image that can tell a story on its own or a sequence that does so over the course of several images. I have in mind a few different ways that I could go about this. The first would be to take pictures and edit them to convey a mood. If I were to go about the project this way, I would most likely go with a film noir aesthetic, using intense shadows and highlights to show the drama. Another option could be a gritty look with desaturated colors, much like a Christopher Nolan film. The second way would be like a graphic novel. I would incorporate drawings into a sequence that would tell a narrative with text, much like a comic book. The colors will likely be bright and the figures exaggerated to convey the mood.

Project 3 In Progress

Artist's Statement for "The Cyclical Nature of Things"

When I hear the word “cycle”, one of the first things that comes to mind is the things I do day-to-day as part of my routine. In the case of this project, I thought about things that are specific to my routine that aren’t things that everyone else does. To give an example, I start the day with an energy drink, so I would include an image of the can in the piece. Another idea that I want to incorporate into the piece is the idea that the days blur by rather quickly. The idea would be to creatively combine the objects and buildings I often see into a single image. In short, the basic premise for this piece is to combine a bunch of objects I see daily and show how my day often looks.
